NUTRITIONAL FACTS

Danutri100® Nutritional Resource Values

..

Nutrient fortification is the process of adding essential vitamins and minerals to food products to improve their nutritional value. It is a scientifically-proven strategy for promoting health and preventing nutrient deficiencies, and its benefits are supported by various reputable organizations.

The recommended dietary allowances (RDAs) for vitamins and minerals are established by organizations such as the National Academy of Sciences, and they vary depending on various demographic factors such as age, gender, and physiological status. For example, the RDA for vitamin C ranges from 15-120 milligrams per day, while the RDA for calcium ranges from 1,000-1,300 milligrams per day, depending on the demographic group.

Fortifying food products with these essential nutrients can help consumers meet their daily recommended intakes and prevent nutrient deficiencies, which can lead to a variety of health problems. For instance, fortification of milk with vitamin D can reduce the risk of rickets in children, while fortification of bread and cereal with folic acid can decrease the incidence of neural tube defects in newborns.

Fortification can also enhance the nutritional quality of food products and potentially increase consumer demand. Research has indicated that consumers are willing to pay more for foods that are fortified with essential nutrients, as they are perceived as healthier options.

Danutri100® For Children

The values used in this table are based on Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) which will meet the needs of nearly all (97 to 98%) healthy individuals to prevent nutrient deficiencies.

These values are therefore considered to be the minimum amounts necessary to achieve and maintain optimum nutritional status which will assist in the reduction of disease, specifically degenerative diseases of an individual’s dietary lifestyle.

DaNutri 100 for Children is based on the NRV table to achieve 100% of the Recommended Dietary Allowances needed daily.

These vitamins and minerals are combined with a Prebiotic [Fructooligosaccharides (FOS)] which is a source of fibre for the maintenance of good health and beneficially affects the intestinal flora by selectively stimulating the growth of the good gut micro-organisms to positively affect intestinal health.

Danutri100® For Mothers

DaNutri® 100 for Mothers is based on the NRV table to achieve 100% of the Recommended Dietary Allowances needed daily but has the active form of folate called 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) and increased doses of Iron, Zinc and Vitamin B12.

5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) is the primary biologically active form of folate, it is well absorbed even when gastrointestinal pH is altered, and its bioavailability is not affected by metabolic defects meaning the intake is much higher than normal folic acid, especially needed for pregnant women.

Folate is needed in cell growth, cell division, cell synthesis and repairing of DNA. During pregnancy folate requirements increase to support embryonic and fetal development and maternal tissue growth but also to reduce risk of low birth weight, preterm birth, elevated homocysteine levels and related adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Studies have found that low dietary intake of folate increases the risk of delivering a child with several types of birth defects, particularly neural tube defects (NTD) and possibly leading to poor growth in the fetus or placenta.

For certain women, the risk is even higher, and greater levels of dietary supplements are often recommended, including when the mother is diabetic, taking anti-epilepsy medicine ortaking anti-retroviral medication for HIV.
